WASHINGTON CABLE SYSTEMS

Washington Cable Systems are manufacturers of 5, 8 and 10 yard and custom skyline excavators. These machines have become a favourite of crews working in open pit mines. These specialized and high production units use mechanical interlock. The regenerative effects of the mechanical interlock provides increased efficiency, speed and better fuel consumption. The result is no water cooled brakes being slipped and no wasted horsepower.

While they may look familiar on the outside, We re-manufacture these machines with electronic cabs, fully customized for a niche market. All are fitted with a tier 3 John Deere engine and our customers absolutely love ‘em!

These cable systems are built using Washington 208’s and 158’s (check out our gallery). We currently have a few old units in our yard, along with a Washington 217 and they are all slated to become gravel draglines. Out on the west coast these machines are often referred to as skyline excavators. Back east they’re known as Sauermans – a trade name from somewhere in the past.
